Internal Floor Plans
At Ratcliff Land and Engineering Surveys, we can provide both large and small scale measured building surveys.
These plans are frequently used for interior space management, or as an integral part of a renovation project. Our surveyors have experience in measuring a wide range of different structures, ranging from small, domestic properties to warehouses and office blocks, hospitals and large high security premises.
The level of detail surveyed is determined by our client and varys from minimal/basic layout detail, to comprehensive architectural features.
Floor plans sometimes contain level information, relative to a pre-determined datum, specified by our clients and occasionally may include a small amount of external topographical survey work. An average floor plan survey would feature wall positions/floor layout together with room heights, door openings and swing, window positions and heights, stairs, sanitary, and an external line (where accessible)
The majority of floor plan surveys consist of more than a single floor, when this is the case, attention is given to how the corresponding floors overlay each other. Locking the floors in line with one another (provided they are symmetrical) is usually done on the locating of staircases, lift shafts or service ducts.
Our internal floor plan surveys are carried out using a total station or using custom developed AutoCAD software, and our pocket computers.
Measurements are taken using a steel tape and a laser measuring device. Dimensions are then transmitted back to the hand held pc, direct from the laser measure via Bluetooth. The use of this dedicated software allows us to produce a running accurate plan instantly. The advantages of this technique include; minimizing on drawing or measurement errors and reducing the time spent drawing up the survey back at the office. This helps to save us and you, time and money on costly site revisits and man hours in the office.
