GPS Surveys

We refer to a survey as a GPS Survey when it is possible to record all data using only our GPS equipment.

It is a fast and efficient way of surveying. It can do away with the need of a Total stations in certain circumstances and can provide reliable and accurate data that can be used for area and volume calculations.

There are determinants as to wether detail can be successfully measured with the GPS or not.

These include:

i) An adequate amount of open sky visibility - The equipment needs a clear line of site between the receiver and the sky. I.E. Tall trees and overhead structures prevent a signal, thus loss of observation.

ii) Characteristics of required detail - Our survey receivers measure to an accuracy of approximately 10-20mm accuracy in height and position. Some detail demands a higher level of accuracy than this and would call for the use of a total station.
